A great day with the Girls First XI being successful after a long period in the wilderness, so to speak.
The girls team won the Grand Final against BCGS on sudden death strokes- after playing extra time and still being a draw at the end of penalty strokes. This was a great game and all the girls stepped up after the BCGS team beat us 5 nil earlier in the day. BCC was easily the most experienced team lead by the Gibbs sisters. A big call out to GK Maughan who having played only 4 games of goalie, made a number of key saves to win the day.
Unfortunately the boys lost on penalty strokes against BCGS in the Final, after a full time draw and extra time. This is the end of the ‘Harvie Era.’ Captain T Harvie has finished with the team; something that the other Colleges will be grateful for. BCGS get to go to Country Week after winning the ACC for the first time since 2013. Finally we have the pleasing rise of the Year 9 students so the future looks bright.
A number of younger players debuted and were an absolute credit to the College. GK Eichner played a cracker and his effort in the penalty shootout, despite never having faced one before, was brilliant.
