Cutting hair for a good cause

23 Feb 2017

Jacqui Granger News

The South Western Times visited the Marist Campus last week to find out why Maddy Congdon has decided to cut her hair! It’s a good story. “Just about everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. When a kid is diagnosed with cancer though it is particularly tough. One of the side effects of chemotherapy is hairloss. When I learned that my hair could be used to make a wig for a child through Variety, I decided that it just made sense to donate something I had to someone who needed it.”
Oisin Buckley, Byron Albertsen, Quinn Graham and Damon Busher will also be cutting their hair (at the same time) to support the cause.
“I have already raised over $1,500 dollars which was my target, but wigs cost up to $6,000 so I’ve raised my target. The cut takes place on the 3rd March at BCC. You can donate here; bit.ly/cut4cancer

A ‘Gravity’ fundraiser, on the 25th Feb for $25 is hoping to raise $600 (rock session 7:00-9:30pm) with $5 from every ticket going to the cause and there’s a raffle with Leeuwin passes, Forest adventure tickets and Grand Cinema tickets kicking off this week.
