2017 Marist Basketball Carnival Brisbane
Both the girls’ and boys’ teams have been training extremely hard in preparation for the carnival to be held in Brisbane in the first week of the April school holidays.
Both teams attended a 2-day intensive training camp which focussed on fitness, team and individual skill development, game play and team building activities.
Local South West Slammers player and fitness trainer Courtney Bayliss put the players through a rigorous fitness session, whilst BCC staff member Lisa Hammond took them through a complete yoga workout.
Both teams played a scratch match against local A grade men’s and women’s teams with some very positive individual and team performances. The players observed and analysed each other’s games, providing valuable feedback to add to the learning experience.
Both teams are competing in local competitions to gain much needed match practice, with the girls playing at Eaton in the women’s competition on a Wednesday night, and the boys playing in the Australind under 20 men’s competition on a Monday night. Both teams only have four games left to play, and spectators are always welcome.
