Marist Campus Crossfit

11 Aug 2016

Jacqui Granger News

Year 9 students from Mrs Piggott’s Netball Development Class and Mr McGeoch and Mrs Gann’s PE Elite class had the opportunity to try out several CrossFit sessions at the end of Term 2. Students have been learning different methods of fitness and strength and conditioning in these courses.
Professional CrossFit Coach, Georgina Lock from CrossFit South West, led students through several progressions of some of the activities used in CrossFit. CrossFit can best be described as functional movements performed at high intensity and includes cardio work, gymnastics and weightlifting in a closely monitored environment with each individual’s ability in mind.
Students had the opportunity to try out scaled versions of these activities that included box jumps, handstands and body weighted bar work. They had a lot of fun and worked hard to finish each of the three different workouts presented. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience another modality of fitness in the environment in which it is professionally coached.
CrossFit South West has offered students who would like to continue to try out CrossFit their first week free when starting in July (first day of the free week needs to be within the month of July) CrossFit South West on Picton Road, just around the corner from Bunbury Catholic College Marist Campus. Contact George on 0413453627 who is more than happy to book in a suitable time or for more information check out www.cfsouthwest.com
