Colin Piacentini – Business and Enterprise Category
(Hall of Distinction 2020)
Colin was nominated to the Hall of Distinction for his contribution to Business and Enterprise, and he is also recognised for his philanthropy. Piacentini & Son is one of the South West’s biggest employers, with a staff of 1000, and a fleet of CAT scrapers to rival any in the Southern Hemisphere. The earth-moving company has a very successful road transport and heavy haulage operation, and an innovative mechanical engineering division. Standing at the front gate of the premises, located on the Boyanup-Picton Road, is the first bulldozer purchased by Colin’s father Albert which has now been restored as a permanent reminder of the operation’s beginnings. Colin has been a driving force in supporting community projects which have touched the lives of many in the South West. Colin’s philanthropy has extended from the Val Lishman Foundation and the Coronary Care Unit at St John of God Hospital, to many projects and events in the Greater Bunbury region. He is a Life Member for Boyanup Capel Dardanup Football Club, and has been named both a Paul Harris Fellow for his contribution to the Rotary Foundation, and a Melvin Jones Fellow for his dedication to humanitarian services for the Lions Foundation.
