Another polished and enjoyable Year 9 Play Night can be added to the history books of Bunbury Catholic College. Each year the Year 9 drama students enjoy exploring Melodrama through different mediums of performance. This culminates in a shared “live” performance now known as the Year 9 Play Night.
The two Year 9 Classes at the Marist Campus worked hard on perfecting and producing their own devised drama pieces while the Mercy year 9 Drama class enjoyed exploring melodramatic territory through a scripted performance of “Robin Hood”. The experience for all students involved was positive, as some students were able to ‘tread the boards’ in front of an audience for the first time.
The audience of friends, family and teachers seemed to enjoy the night and lots of laughs were had. Above all it’s amazing to see the students across the two campuses supporting, encouraging and congratulating one another for their performances which makes the whole event truly inspiring.
A huge thanks to Mrs Karen Walker who tirelessly makes sure all students involved are kitted out in costumes and also have all the props they need to enhance their performance. Also thanks to Ms Brenda Della Salle for her work backstage and to Mr Ted May for his photographic expertise. One last staff thank you to Mercy practicum teacher Natasha Kennworthy for her efforts in helping produce the Mercy performance.
Congratulations to all Year 9 students involved and to all the parents, peers and teachers who came to support The Arts at Bunbury Catholic College. We look forward to doing this again next year.
