Year 7 Curriculum: A Year of Discovery

Our Year 7 transition program supports a smooth start to secondary school, introducing students to a vibrant curriculum that sparks curiosity, builds organisational skills, and fosters self-assurance.

Our academic and pastoral programs are thoughtfully designed to challenge and inspire, helping students build essential skills while discovering their passions. With a strong emphasis on engagement and enjoyment, we create a learning environment that nurtures curiosity and lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Core Learning Areas

All Year 7 students study a set of compulsory subjects that provide a strong academic foundation:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Languages – Italian or Indonesian (or Literacy if identified as needing further assistance)
  • Health
  • Physical Education

To support individual learning needs, students may be grouped by ability in English and Mathematics.

Electives: Try Everything!

One of the most exciting parts of Year 7 is the opportunity to sample a wide range of electives. Students rotate through all the elective subjects across the year, giving them a taste of what’s on offer in the years ahead. These electives include:

  • Art
  • Dance
  • Digital Technologies
  • Drama
  • Food Technology
  • Music
  • Metalwork
  • Woodwork

This rotation ensures students meet the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirement to experience learning in:

  • Design
  • Performing Arts
  • Technology
  • Visual Arts

It’s a fantastic way for students to discover new interests, build confidence, and develop a broad skill set in a supportive and encouraging environment.
