Year 8 at Bunbury Catholic College builds on the foundations of Year 7, encouraging students to think critically, explore their interests, and grow in independence. Through a rich and balanced curriculum, students are challenged to take ownership of their learning while developing essential skills for life.
With opportunities to lead, collaborate, and contribute to both school and community, students are inspired to ask questions, seek answers and present their learning in creative and meaningful ways. Year 8 is a time of discovery, confidence-building and deeper engagement across all areas of learning.
Core Learning Areas
All Year 8 students study a set of common courses that continue to build their academic and personal development:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Health and Physical Education
- Languages – Italian or Indonesian (or Literacy for students continuing from the Year 7 Literacy Program)
To support individual learning needs, academic streaming may occur in English and Mathematics.
Electives: Choose Your Path
After sampling a wide range of electives in Year 7, students in Year 8 begin to shape their own learning journey. They will complete two electives per semester, allowing them to explore areas of interest and build skills for future study.
All students will complete Digital Technologies in either Semester 1 or 2, as required by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA).
