Year 9 at Bunbury Catholic College is a pivotal year where students begin to truly connect with their learning in meaningful and authentic ways. It’s a time of self-discovery and confidence-building, where students begin to understand who they are as learners and how they can make a positive impact in their school, community, and beyond.
Students are encouraged to collaborate, create, and lead, with opportunities to present their learning in innovative ways. Students develop essential life skills: critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and enterprise.
Having built a strong foundation in Years 7 and 8, students now step into a more personalised and purposeful learning experience. Students explore their strengths, pursue their interests, and take greater ownership of their educational journey.
Core Learning Areas
All Year 9 students study a set of common courses that continue to support academic growth and personal development:

- Health and Physical Education
Academic streaming may occur in English and Mathematics to support individual learning needs.
Electives: Shape Your Learning
In Year 9, students begin to specialise, selecting four elective courses—two per semester—from a wide range of engaging options. These electives allow students to explore areas of interest, build expertise, and develop skills for future study and careers.
