Open Day — 26 March

The Peer Support Program

At Bunbury Catholic College, we believe that every student deserves to feel known, valued, and supported—especially during times of transition. That’s why, as part of your welcome to Year 7, you’ll be guided by a team of trained Year 11 Peer Support Leaders who embody our Marist values of presence, simplicity, love of work, family spirit, and in the way of Mary.

These senior students have walked the same path you’re beginning. They’ve faced the challenges, found their rhythm, and grown into confident contributors to our College community. Now, they’re here to walk alongside you.

What Peer Support Leaders Do

Your Peer Support Leaders work closely with your Homeroom Teacher to help you settle in and thrive. They’ll support you with practical skills such as:

  • Navigating your timetable and school layout
  • Getting to know your classmates and building friendships
  • Communicating confidently with teachers
  • Using your device and managing technology wisely
  • Building resilience and solving problems
  • Maintaining your locker and using your lock
  • Managing homework, study routines, and wellbeing

They’ll also lead engaging activities that help you connect with others in your homeroom and across the College. These icebreakers and group games are designed to spark conversation, build trust, and foster a sense of belonging.

Why It Matters

Peer Support is more than just practical help—it’s a living expression of our Marist charism. It’s about older students being present to younger ones, creating a family spirit where everyone feels safe, supported, and encouraged to grow. It’s about learning together, working together, and becoming people of hope and compassion.

Through this program, you’ll not only learn how to navigate high school—you’ll discover what makes Bunbury Catholic College a place of welcome, faith, and shared purpose.
