These opportunities are available to both current and prospective students enrolling at Bunbury Catholic College in 2027.

Academic Scholarships

Overview

Bunbury Catholic College offers four full Academic Scholarships each year. The scholarship applies to tuition fees only and does not include other school charges.

Academic Assessment Services, an independent organisation, conducts the scholarship testing on behalf of the College. This includes facilitating the examination, marking the assessments, and compiling the results.

STEM Academic Scholarship

  • Year 11, 2027

Please note: Students wishing to apply for the Year 11 STEM Scholarship must first register for the Academic Scholarship, which also registers them for the Academic Scholarship Examination. After completing the Academic Scholarship application, students may then register for the STEM Scholarship at no additional cost.


Eligibility

Academic Scholarships are open to:

  • Year 6 students who have been offered a place at Bunbury Catholic College in Year 7, 2027
  • Students entering Year 9 in 2027
  • Students entering Year 11 in 2027

Scholarship Benefits

The Academic Scholarships each provide a $3,500 contribution toward tuition fees for 2027 and 2028, subject to ongoing requirements. This amount is applied toward tuition fees only and does not include other school charges.


Application Process

Application
Complete the Academic Scholarship Application Form and submit it on or before the closing date, along with:

  • your child’s 2025 Semester 2 School Report
  • their latest NAPLAN results

A $120 registration fee is payable directly to Academic Assessment Services when submitting the application.

Scholarship Exam
Registered applicants will sit the Academic Scholarship Examination at Bunbury Catholic College on:

  • Saturday, 23 May 2026
  • 8.20am – 12.30pm

No alternate date will be offered.
Applicants who have not paid the application fee will not be permitted to sit the examination or be considered for a scholarship.


Selection Process

  • Scholarships are awarded based on academic aptitude (exam results) and the supporting information provided with the application.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview with the Principal.
  • Scholarship awards are determined by the Principal, and the Principal’s decision is final.
  • Bunbury Catholic College reserves the right not to offer a scholarship if no suitable applicants are identified.
As part of the selection process, students applying for the Year 9 or Year 11 Academic Scholarship or STEM Scholarship who are not currently enrolled at Bunbury Catholic College must also submit an enrolment application by 15 May 2026.

Outcome

Families will be notified of the scholarship outcome by the end of Semester 2, 2026.


Ongoing Requirements

The Principal reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if a student does not consistently demonstrate the commitment, responsibility, and conduct expected of a scholarship recipient, including where the student:

• fails to maintain satisfactory academic engagement and/or school attendance
• commits a serious breach of the Student Code of Conduct

If a student leaves the College before the end of the scholarship period, parents or guardians may be required to repay the portion of tuition fees that was waived. Any decision to reinstate fees is at the Principal’s discretion.

Scholarships are reviewed annually to ensure recipients continue to meet the required standards of conduct and academic progress.

Overview

The STEM Academic Scholarship supports students who demonstrate a passion for STEM subjects and the ability to excel in these areas throughout their senior schooling.

Eligibility

The STEM Academic Scholarship is open to:

  • Students entering Year 11 in 2027
  • Applicants who have a strong interest in STEM and intend to pursue STEM subjects in Years 11 and 12
  • Students who have registered for, and will sit, the Academic Scholarship Examination

Please note: Students wishing to apply for the Year 11 STEM Scholarship must first register for the Academic Scholarship, which also registers them for the Academic Scholarship Examination. Vocational Education & Training Scholarship

Overview

The Vocational Education & Training (VET) program at Bunbury Catholic College offers students a hands‑on, practical approach to learning that blends academic study with real industry experience.

Through practical training, work placements, and industry partnerships, students gain valuable skills that enhance their employability and prepare them for further study or entry into the workforce.

The VET program is designed to empower students to explore future career pathways, develop workplace readiness, and build a strong foundation for long‑term success.


Eligibility

The VET Scholarship is open to:

  • Students entering Year 11 in 2027
  • Students intending to study two or more Certificate courses across Year 11 and Year 12
  • Applicants who demonstrate a genuine interest in the VET pathway

Scholarship Benefits

The VET Scholarship provides a $3,500 contribution toward tuition fees for both Year 11 and Year 12, subject to an annual review of student progress and engagement in the VET program. This amount is applied toward tuition fees only and does not include other school charges.


Application Process

Application
Students must complete the general scholarship application form by the specified deadline.

Applicants must also submit a personal portfolio demonstrating their aptitude and commitment to the VET pathway. This may include evidence of:

  • Work experience or work exposure
  • Personal or independent projects
  • Part‑time employment
  • Skills, certificates, or achievements relevant to VET or workplace learning

Students who do not currently attend Bunbury Catholic College are required to email a copy of their Semester 2, 2025 School Report and Year 9 NAPLAN results, along with any additional supporting documentation, to admin@bccwa.wa.edu.au by the closing date.

Music Scholarship

Overview

The Music Scholarship is designed to nurture and develop the musical talents of young students, supporting their growth within the College’s vibrant and diverse music program. Offered annually, the scholarship provides opportunities for both formally trained and self‑taught musicians to extend their musical journey.

The scholarship encourages students to explore their potential in brass or woodwind, orchestral strings, or voice, contributing to the strength and diversity of the College’s music community.


Eligibility

The Music Scholarship is open to gifted and talented music students currently in Year 6 who have been offered a place at Bunbury Catholic College in Year 7 in 2027, particularly those who have demonstrated exceptional ability in one of the following categories:

  • Brass or Woodwind
  • Orchestral Strings
  • Voice

This scholarship is especially intended for students who may have had limited access to formal music tuition.


Scholarship Benefits

The Music Scholarship covers 100% of music fees for 2027.


Application Process

Students must complete the general scholarship application form and submit it by the application deadline.

All applicants must undertake a Musical Aptitude Test.

Applicants must also submit a practical video performance demonstrating their skills in their selected category.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend an interview as part of the selection process.

Ongoing Commitment

Scholarship recipients are expected to:

  • attend all scheduled music lessons regularly
  • actively participate in at least one school and/or community ensemble
  • demonstrate commitment, reliability, and exemplary behaviour
  • continue to develop their musical skills throughout the scholarship period

The Music Coordinator and/or the Principal reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if the student:

  • does not meet the expectations outlined above
  • fails to maintain a commitment to academic studies and/or school attendance
  • commits a serious breach of the Student Code of Conduct

This scholarship seeks to create opportunities for students to thrive academically and personally, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.


Eligibility

The Rose Scholarship is open to First Nations students entering Years 7 to 12 in 2027 at Bunbury Catholic College.


Scholarship Value

The Rose Scholarship provides financial assistance up to the value of $2,000, applied toward tuition fees. This amount is intended to support First Nations students who are experiencing financial or other barriers that may impact their ability to attend Bunbury Catholic College.

The Parents & Friends (P & F) Bursary provides financial support to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the College community and its values. The P & F Bursaries are open to current Year 6 students who have been offered a place at Bunbury Catholic College in Year 7 in 2027.


Bursary Value

The P & F Bursary is a on-off payment valued at $800 and is designed to assist with the cost of Year 7 school fees.

Overview

The Elite Sports Program at Bunbury Catholic College provides students with advanced opportunities in sports performance, coaching, and officiating—experiences not typically available through junior community sport. Guided by sport science principles and delivered by our experienced Health and Physical Education team, the program offers age‑appropriate challenges that foster physical, mental, and athletic growth.

Please note: This program does not provide financial assistance.


Eligibility

The Elite Sports Program is open to:

  • Year 6 students who have been offered a place at Bunbury Catholic College in Year 7, 2027
  • Current Bunbury Catholic College students in Years 7 to 11

Program Purpose

The Elite Sports Program supports students with a strong interest or talent in sport, providing opportunities to develop skills in performance, coaching, and officiating. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and physical literacy to excel, fostering both personal and athletic growth.

The Elite Sports Program Guide outlines a structured pathway focused on physical literacy and specialised skill development.


Application Process

Students must apply for selection into the Elite Sports Program each year.

All applicants are required to attend a fitness testing session on Saturday, 23 May 2026. This session will assess physical fitness levels and assist in determining suitability for the program.

As part of the selection process, the College will contact the applicant’s primary school Principal to provide a reference. The application form, Principal’s reference, and fitness test results will be used collectively to assess suitability for the Elite Sports Program.

MADALAH Scholarship (First Nations Scholarships Years 7-12 2027)

MADALAH Limited is a not-for-profit organisation that offers secondary and tertiary education scholarships for First Nations students from remote and regional communities to Western Australia’s leading schools and Australian universities.

As part of the selection process, students who are not currently enrolled at Bunbury Catholic College are also required to submit an enrolment application by the closing date of 15 May 2026 as part of the selection process. External Certificate Bursaries for Year 11 & 12

Overview

Bunbury Catholic College offers the External Certificate Course Bursary to support students undertaking approved external Certificate courses as part of their senior studies.

This bursary assists families by subsidising a portion of external course costs while supporting students to complete vocational qualifications during Years 11 and 12.


Eligibility

The External Certificate Course Bursary is available to:

  • students enrolled at Bunbury Catholic College in Year 11 or Year 12
  • students undertaking an approved external Certificate course

A maximum of one bursary per student is available for the duration of their senior schooling.


Bursary Value

The bursary provides financial assistance up to a maximum of $1,000 per eligible Certificate course.

  • External Certificate course fees must be billed to and paid directly by families to the training provider
  • Students are eligible for a bursary only on the portion of course fees exceeding $1,000, capped at $1,000

Examples:
• If the Certificate course fee is $900, no bursary applies
• If the Certificate course fee is $1,800, a bursary of $800 applies
• If the Certificate course fee is $2,200, the bursary is capped at $1,000


Application Process

Families are required to pay the full external Certificate course fee directly to the training provider.

Evidence of payment must be provided to the College. Receipts should be emailed to:

Only applications that address all requirements will be considered.


Selection Criteria

Bursaries are applied on confirmation that:

  • the student is enrolled in Year 11 or Year 12 at Bunbury Catholic College
  • the Certificate course has been approved as an external qualification
  • valid evidence of course fee payment has been provided

Commitment to College Requirements

The bursary will only be applied while the student remains enrolled at Bunbury Catholic College.

Bursary arrangements are reviewed on an annual basis.


Application of the Bursary

The College will apply the bursary as a credit to the student’s annual school fees account in Term 3, provided eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Families are encouraged to consider the bursary when calculating regular school fee direct debits or instalment arrangements (if applicable).


Decision

All bursary decisions and applications of credit are made by the College and are final.
