Bunbury Catholic College is the Country Week 2026 Tier One Champion School.
The trophies were presented and our champions celebrated when the Saints teams came marching into the first College Assembly of Term 3.
School Sport WA held the 97th Senior High Schools Country Week at the end of Term 2, with more than 4,400 students representing 59 regional WA schools attending the event.
Our contingent of 179 students and 19 staff, along with managers and a student media crew, made the journey to Perth, where 15 Bunbury Catholic College Saints teams competed in AFL, Basketball, Dance, Hockey, Indoor Cricket, Netball, Soccer, Speech and Debate, Touch Rugby and Volleyball.
Director of Sport Kelly Bastow is pleased and proud of the teams, both for their competitive passion and the camaraderie that built throughout the week.
“The way they supported each Saints team and cheered them on was amazing to see,” she said.
“There was an incredible belief in themselves, their teams and our College, which we saw in the way students carried themselves as they represented our school.
“It takes a lot of courage and passion as well as their skills and talent to create the buzz of excitement about it being ‘our year’ and ‘our time’, and that sense of truly belonging to something big and exciting is worth so much.
“Our success is built on the hard work of dedicated staff, the phenomenal leadership of the student team captains and the strength of each student who represented the College.
“We had five teams compete in A Grade grand finals, two teams in A Grade bronze finals and two teams compete in B Grade grand finals. That kind of success is incredible, demonstrating strength across the board, and the achievements of all our teams are recognised and celebrated.”
