We are now accepting Year 7 2028 Enrolments

Year 7, 2026 Orientation Day

Orientation Day is a key step in welcoming new students to our community and helping them ease into secondary school life. It offers a chance to explore the College, meet teachers and classmates, and get a feel for what lies ahead.

Starting high school is an exciting milestone, and our Orientation Day is designed to help students feel confident, supported, and ready to embrace the new opportunities ahead. We can’t wait to welcome your child and family to the BCC community and support them as they grow and thrive.

Event Details

Date: Friday, 14 November 2025
Start Time: 8.45am
End Time: 2.30pm
Location: La Valla Sports Centre

In preparation for Orientation Day and to ensure your child has a smooth and successful start to Year 7, it is essential that families complete the Orientation Day & Transition Form and book a uniform fitting appointment by Friday, 26 September 2025.

This information allows us to better understand your child’s needs and prepare for their start in 2026, while the uniform fitting ensures all Year 7 students have the required uniform. Please note, a fitting appointment must be made even if you only need to purchase one item. Completing fittings during the designated dates helps reduce demand on the uniform shop during the busy start of the year in January.

Completing these steps on time allows us to plan effectively and provide the best support possible for your child’s transition to secondary school.

We look forward to receiving your responses by Friday, 26 September 2025.

WHAT TO EXPECT

On the day, students will have the opportunity to discover what makes secondary school different from primary school.

Students will –

    • Meet their teachers and classmates
    • Exploring subject areas and facilities
    • Learn how the daily timetable works
    • Take part in classes and team-building activities
    • Start building new friendships
    • Begin to understand what it means to be part of the BCC community

It’s all about building familiarity, easing nerves, and helping students feel excited and ready for Day 1 of Term 1.

DROP OFF & PICK UP

Drop Off

To help the morning run smoothly, we ask families to follow a ‘kiss and drop’ approach.

Please use the Rodsted Street entrance, drive through the College via the access road to the right, drop your child off in the designated drop off zone. Please do not park in this area—remain in your car and allow your child to exit quickly and safely. Then exit via Petherick Street (see school map page 4).

Our friendly student leaders will be there to assist your child and guide them safely to the La Valla Sports Centre.

Unless otherwise arranged, ALL students must be dropped off in the ‘kiss and drop’ area.

We ask that students arrive in time for an 8.45am start.

Students should not travel by bus on Orientation Day. However, if this is your only option, please confirm arrangements directly with your bus service provider ahead of time.

Pick up

To ensure minimal disruption to our regular school finishing time, students can be collected from 2:30pm, and all students must be picked up before 3:00pm.

A safe pick-up zone will be set up on the Hockey Oval, at the corner of Flynn and Rodsted Streets.

On arrival, look out for signage and staff to help guide you. Please do not park in this area—remain in your car, and our peer support leaders and staff will assist your child in making their way to you.

If someone other than a parent will be collecting your child, please let us know their name and contact details ahead of time.

Traveling by bus

Students should not travel by bus on Orientation Day. However, if this is your only option, please confirm arrangements directly with your bus service provider ahead of time, and advise the registrar.
