Principal's Report
Term 3 has commenced with a genuine sense of optimism and energy across the College. The positive tone established in the opening weeks of the term has created a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting and rewarding semester.
One of the great strengths of our College is the way we come together to acknowledge, celebrate and support one another. Over recent weeks, we have shared in a number of significant occasions that reflect who we are as a community. Our opening College Assembly focused on NAIDOC Week celebrations and recognised the achievements of our Country Week teams.
The assembly provided a meaningful opportunity to honour the rich history, culture and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As a Catholic community, we are committed to fostering respect, understanding and connection, and these occasions remind us of the importance of walking together in reconciliation and appreciation of the stories that shape our nation.
The assembly also provided an opportunity to celebrate our Country Week teams, who were crowned Tier 1 Country Week Champions. This is an extraordinary achievement, with Bunbury Catholic College becoming the first non-government school to receive this honour. Director of Sport Kelly Bastow spoke to the College about the culture that underpins our success: a culture of endeavour, aspiration and connectedness. She also reflected on our sporting uniforms, which feature First Nations artwork, sharing the story and significance behind the symbols represented within the design.
As we journey through Term 3, I encourage all students to approach each day with purpose, gratitude and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. Together, let us continue to nurture a culture where every individual feels known, valued and supported to flourish. I look forward to all that we will achieve together in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for your continued support of our College.

Country Week Winners
Trophies were presented and our champions celebrated when the Saints teams came marching into the College Assembly as the Country Week 2026 Tier One winners!
Director of Sport Kelly Bastow is proud of the competitive passion and the camaraderie that developed throughout the week of competition.
NAIDOC Week
We proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week by learning about First Nations culture, playing games and sharing food including emu and crocodile skewers, kangaroo stew and kangaroo sausages, all served with love and damper made by students.
Congratulations to Baylee Froome in Year 12 and Braxton Lowe in Year 8, who were jointly awarded the Bunbury Catholic College NAIDOC Youth Award at the NAIDOC Assembly.
The presentations were made before special guests Basil Hart, Valerie Ugle and Bianca Hart, who were honoured for their support of our Wardandi Gift event and NAIDOC celebrations.
First Nations Student Coordinator Ijah Coyle said ‘Fifty Years of Deadly’ is a marker, not just of time passed, but of the momentum building into our future.
During NAIDOC Week we introduced students to new sporting games including Borna Jokee, Meecha Boma and Jumpinpin, proving that sharing culture through sport can be a lot of fun.
Academic Excellence
We congratulate our Year 7, 8 and 11 students who have been awarded Certificates of Academic Excellence in recognition of their outstanding achievement across a range of learning areas. These awards reflect not only their academic ability, but also their dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
We are very proud of their efforts and encourage our community to view the full list of recipients via the links to each year group below.
Year 7
Activity Days
Our Year 7 students had a lot of fun on and off campus for their Activity Days during the last week of Term 2.
Head Over Heels Acrobatics ran workshops where students enjoyed learning how to perform circus acrobatic tricks. They watched a movie and participated in a class quiz.
The students also visited Capes Foundation – Forest Adventures in Ludlow to participate in high ropes, archery and team-building challenges.

Drama
Our Year 7 Drama students have worked hard during their electives to bring their class play ‘Robin the Hood’ to life.
The classic tale with a twist allows all students to get involved and explore the fundamentals of performance, giving students the opportunity to work in collaboration with their peers and grow in confidence on the stage.
This performance piece is always a crowd pleaser and thoroughly entertaining. Well done to all students for their efforts!

STEM Showcase
Students from across the Bunbury Diocese came together in the La Valla Sports Centre for the STEM Showcase, where they confidently presented innovative solutions to issues and marvelled at the actions of a robot dog.
Organised by CEWA, the showcase brought together 450 students from 12 schools, who were able to explore STEM projects, participate in hands-on activities and meet industry professionals.
There was a genuine buzz throughout the venue, a wonderful reminder of what happens when schools, industry and the wider community come together to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
Childcare Student Excursion
Our Year 10 Childcare class had the opportunity to visit Pregnancy Assistance, a Catholic charity based in Bunbury that provides practical support to families in need.
Students were warmly welcomed by Coordinator Janet Mazza, who guided them through the facilities and shared insights into the valuable services the organisation offers to the local community.
They were given the chance to contribute by preparing gift packages, arranging displays in the charity shop and assembling cots.
The excursion provided a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about community service while making a meaningful contribution. We are grateful to Janet and the team at Pregnancy Assistance for their hospitality and for allowing our students to be involved in their important work.
VET
Year 10 Work Exposure
Our Year 10 students stepped out of the classroom and into the workplace for Work Exposure Week, gaining valuable insights into their future career opportunities.
Our students were welcomed by businesses both locally and further afield, who generously gave their time, knowledge and encouragement.
These hands-on experiences allow students to build confidence, explore career pathways and gain a better understanding of what different industries have to offer.
For many, the experience has reinforced their Year 11 subject selections, while others have discovered a new career pathway they hadn't previously considered.
A sincere thank you to every business and organisation that hosted our students. Your willingness to invest in the next generation is truly appreciated, and these opportunities would not be possible without your support.
